Way To Go is the second release by Rogue Traders with Natalie Bassingthwaighte as the lead singer. The band continues with their extreme style switching from the gothic feel of Voodoo Child to a punk rock. Again the three core band members appear in the music video. The video is set in a school. James Ash appears as a headmaster and Natalie as a teacher. The song begins and Natalie stands in front of her class. The song then kicks in fully and she surprises her class by hopping onto a stage and singing to the backing provided by Steve and James. The stage performance is complete with a transformation of Natalie into a Spice Girls esque Union Jack dress complete with mohican, keeping the punk theme going. The song features a series of rhyming verses, several of which are repeated throughout the song. The backing provides an emphasis for the rhyming lyrics and provides a series of solo sections showing off Steve and James's DJ'ing skill. The overall effect is a catchy tune with punk overtones (though not enough to alienate the lucrative pop market). The music video adds to the feeling of fun and the enjoyment of the band members when making the song. |
